Man arrested for owing over $11,000 in child support

Courts typically require non-custodial parents to pay child support to provide for the financial needs of their children. Support can be ordered even without official child custody agreements. Florida parents who do not pay court-ordered child support are at risk of having their wages garnished from their paychecks or going to jail until paid in full. One man in another area was recently arrested after he apparently failed to pay child support.

Authorities from different agencies were conducting an investigation on the man who was delinquent on payments. He had reportedly provided two different addresses, and, apart from his addresses, he had provided a work address that was revealed to be untrue. According to reports, he owed over $11,000 in child support at the time of his arrest.

Authorities booked him into a jail facility in Hunterdon County. He will not be released from jail until he remits overdue child support payments in full. No other information about this matter was disclosed.

Not only does non-payment of child support affect the parents, it also affects the children. Parents who blatantly refuse to pay could have their incomes garnished from paychecks and possibly their income taxes. As with this case, parents could end up in jail until payments are collected in full. Parents who are finding it difficult to receive their child support may want to speak with an experienced family law attorney in Florida who will answer any questions they have and advise on their next steps. Doing this can help parents potentially increase the chances of having favorable outcomes in their cases.
