Divorce can be a difficult time for the people involved. Sometimes, a marriage doesn’t work out, and the parties have to try to agree on property division, alimony, child custody and more. Sometimes, however, claims made during a divorce battle can seem a little bizarre. In one current case, a man is claiming that his wife tricked him into marrying her. According to the documents, she wooed him in order to get close to him and his family’s wealth, which she would then legally claim after divorce. Once divorced, the plaintiff claims that the wife would find a past lover and return with the money to another country.
The wife filed for divorce based on the marriage being “irretrievably broken,” and she asked for alimony, the distribution of property, and the protection of marital assets. Her husband was prompted into taking action, according to him, because she had moved to sequester their marital assets. He also claimed that her gift of a Range Rover gave him a false sense of security that prompted his marriage proposal.
Divorces can be stressful for both parties, so knowing the legal rights a person has to alimony, and other assets can help.
