Telling children about divorce may be easier than lying

Husbands and wives considering divorce in Florida may have a lot to think about. It is a big decision and one that should be made with great care. Although many couples may think of the ways a divorce affects their children, they may not think of the ways that an unhappy marriage affects them. This is not likely by intention or by lack of concern. It is usually because there is already so much to worry about when considering a divorce.

Although many parents may forget the children's feelings regarding the marriage, and focus more on the divorce, it may be wise to think of how an unhappy marriage will affect them in the long run. An unhappy marriage can have more negative effects on children than one may think. It is always important that children see and hear what goes on in the home. Seeing an unhappy marriage may become what they feel is the norm for a marriage to resemble.

It is likely that parents want their children to be in a happy marriage filled with love, but seeing a dysfunctional marriage could force them to do otherwise. Parents may want to consider showing their children what a happy, stable relationship looks like. This can be done by modeling good values in a marriage, or in a separation.

Many parents will put off a divorce until their children are in adulthood. Not only can it cause strain in the family, but the children will likely always be affected by a divorce no matter how old they are. It may be better to tell the truth about the divorce than to put the children through emotional strain. Parents in Florida likely do not want to hurt their children by letting them know they want a divorce, but it may be better than dragging on a marriage that is over.
