A Jacksonville woman spray-painted graffiti on her local courthouse while going through a divorce and custody dispute. Pensacola residents going through a divorce know divorce can be an emotional time, and taking the time to understand one’s legal rights may help them feel more in control during the divorce.
The 35-year-old woman was arrested on the charge of criminal mischief when she was caught vandalizing the new courthouse in Duval County. Police patrolling the area allegedly found the woman spray-painting broken hearts, the words “free us,” and a message directed toward a judge on the walkway and columns outside the building. Most of the vandalism has since been cleaned up from the new $350 million courthouse.
Police also alleged the woman similarly vandalized the outside of a business that is owned by her estranged husband’s family. The husband had previously filed a restraining order against the woman because of a domestic violence incident. The family and those who were in the office at the time of the incident didn’t want to comment on the matter.
Divorces can be extremely stressful on those involved. However, the alleged actions of the woman in this case would not help anyone in a divorce or child custody dispute.
